City of Greater Sudbury sump pump subsidy (RIISP)

The City's Residential Inflow & Infiltration Subsidy Program (RIISP) helps homeowners on city sewer pay for work that keeps water out of the sanitary sewer. According to the City's RIISP subsidy amounts page:

Key conditions (eligibility page): first-time installations only, the home must be connected to municipal sewer, you need 2 quotes from licensed plumbers, a permit and inspection are required, and the work must be completed within 6 months. Under the sewer use by-law, sump pumps and downspouts must not drain into the sanitary sewer (by-law page).

Homes on a septic system are not on municipal sewer, so they don't qualify for this program. Always confirm current amounts and rules with the City before you start, because they can change.

The pump moves groundwater out and away from the house. A backwater valve stops sewage backing up from the city sewer.
